A. Fire alarm systems are expected to help protect people, property, and assets. But you can’t tell if they’re fully operational just by looking at them. As with any other system, electronics and other components can degrade over time and compromise the system’s operation. Dust, dirt, and other contaminants can cause problems with smoke detectors. Such things as vandalism, remodeling, and improper maintenance procedures can also damage fire protection equipment. The good news is that with proper testing, inspection, and maintenance you can keep your fire alarm system at optimum operating performance. In addition to ensuring protection, keeping your system in good condition reduces expenses by preventing unbudgeted emergency repairs and costly false alarms.  Call our office for pricing 610-825-0892.

A. As a general rule, most devices must be tested on an annual basis.   The requirement for testing and inspections are found in NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code).   Check with your local Fire Marshal or AHJ for additional requirements.

A. Militia Hill Security employs highly trained, skilled technicians. Depending on your system size and complexity your installation will usually take approximately one or two days, but can be more for a more comprehensive system. We do not subcontract.

A.  Depends on model of your keypad.  A majority of security systems can be reset by pressing and holding the “reset” key on your keypad for 5 seconds.

A. You can look at security systems like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. Before you choose your security system, decide what level of protection you require for your home or office. A security system provides protection from intrusion around first and second floor windows, basement windows, and windows near roof lines and porches.

A. Yes, the system is yours to keep once payment in full is received by Militia Hill Security.

A. Absolutely, yes. We have a number of system configurations that can be adapted for pets of all sizes and quantities. Many of our customers have pets that are like family, and the security alarm system is designed with them in mind, as well.

A. While there is always a risk of a false alarm, Militia Hill Security is dedicated to ensuring that false alarms are as rare as possible. To that end, we work closely with our distributors to ensure the security alarm hardware that you receive has been engineered to the highest specifications, and incorporates the latest developments in false alarm reduction hardware and software. Proper installation and user training are the two other factors that keep false alarms to a minimum.

A. When your alarm system goes off, a signal is sent to our monitoring facility over your telephone lines. One of our trained operators will immediately contact you using telephone numbers you have provided to us to ascertain if it is a false alarm. If no one is available on site to provide an abort code, the operator will contact the appropriate authorities.

A. The smoke alarms that are typically installed by construction companies are not the same type as our devices.  Our smoke detectors are monitored 24 hours a day, whether your system is on or not, and whether you are home or not.

Our security systems have the ability to provide fire protection. Fire protection is accomplished by adding optional smoke and heat detectors for an additional cost.

A. At home or work, you hear a loud chirping, almost like a bird, but its electronic coming from somewhere, it is difficult to tell. It could be coming from a smoke detector on the ceiling, but sometimes it comes from somewhere else.   If the chirp is coming from a smoke detector it is a stand-alone detector, not installed by Militia Hill Security, the chirp is indicating it needs attention, it may need a battery.     It is very common to confuse alarm system smoke detectors with other detectors, the difference is – detectors we install do not chirp or make any noise.  Militia Hill Security does not service electrically installed or stand-alone smoke detectors.

A. Almost all insurance companies recognize the value of a monitored security alarm system by giving customers a discount on their homeowner’s insurance policy. Typically, discounts range between 5 and 20%.
